There are many legends surrounding the origin of the weeping heart hawks. Some claim it is from the norse and Germanic peoples and is a misrepresentation of their sacred Linden leaf. Others claim its roots are in Celtic and Scottish traditions, like the thistle heart. There are also many native American stories surrounding it. Regardless, the weeping heart hawk became a common weapon throughout North America. This is a traditional example with an iron head and hardened bit. It is not sharpened. The blade has the heart piercing and 2 brass inlays surrounded by an engraved geometric design. The 19 inch handle is ash and decorated with buckskin, antelope fur, brass spots and burned with a design to match the blade. See pics for details and thanks for looking.
