THE PICTORIAL HISTORY OF NO. 10 DOWNING ST.
The Nerve Centre of the Commonwealth
A Pitkin Pride of Britain Souvenir
    By Ernest J. Tytler
Wonderful history! Begins with Sir Thomas Knyvet's residency in buildings that form foundation of 10 Downing in 1605 and how it passed through his lineage. Continues with purchase by Sir George Downing (who likely never lived there). Booklet continues on with stories of Downing in early America and back in England, and his part in forming the British Secret Service, his service to Oliver Cromwell and eventual exile.
Drawings and photos of Prime Ministers from George Grenville (1763). Black and white photos and descriptions of interior of buildings. Various interesting facts and stories (such as only arm chair in Cabinet meeting was for PM, touching the knocker was considered lucky). Different feelings about 10 Downing from Prime Ministers over the years.
List of Prime Ministers 1721-1951. No date of publication found so after 1951 - likely 1950's.
Soft cover measures approximately 7 x 9 inches and has 24 pages. Shows some wear and age but remains clean and in overall very good shape.
Interesting and informative. Harder to find publication!
