    Description

Trade card for Byrn's Shoe Store in Washington. Front side has an illustration of a man being blown around by rain and wind, leaning against a sign that says that the weather for the day would be fair, dry and warm, signed by Vennor, a well-known weather forecaster in the mid-19th century. The high winds are shown by his umbrella, which has turned inside-out, and his hat, which is flying away. The advertising text is on the other side, which mentions the price for various kinds of shoes, including the 'Acme' and the 'Solid Comfort' which, it promises, are more expensive at other shoe stores. The company's contact info is at the bottom. Illustration resembles Oscar Wilde. Aesthetic Movement. Copyright 1882 by E. B. Duval. 4 1/2" x 3"
