Stunningly Decorated Satsuma-Style Chinese Porcelain Floor Vase/Temple Jar.
This hybrid transfer/hand-painted temple jar is lavishly decorated with a repeated scene of beautifully dressed women, children and servants walking through a bamboo forest. One of the women appears to have fallen, gleefully observed by another of the women.
The artwork is accented with metallic gold, moriage elements highlighting florals and clothing, floral friezes at the collar lip, shoulder and base of the jar, and Jacobean floral illustration between the friezes and the bamboo forest artwork. Butterflies are included in the frieze about the neck of the jar.
Dimensions of the jar: Nominal height, 24”. Actual height, 23..5”. Mouth, 675”. Diameter at waist, 10”. Base, 6.5”.
