    Description

Set of 4 Matson Line Art Deco Menus
Eugene Savage is most likely the artist
These designs were first used in the mid 1930s
and use was continued into the 1950s
    These date from 1940
2 are Matsonia, April to Hawaii
2 are Lurline, May to California
    They measure 9" x 6 1/2" folded
Overall condition I would consider good to very good
A few minor spots (it was dinner time!)
Some discoloration on right side of wahine with fruit
Menu with the 2 wahines has creasing in the bottom right quadrant
    Wonderful drawings!
An air of innocence and restraint to them
More in the vein of the Asia magazine covers
THEN he went went WILD with those colorful, sinuous, sensuous paintings
(This set of menu covers is recognized by many to be the work of
    Eugene Savage
though I have not found any documentation....)
Color of the ink is a soft blackish brown
I have my framed diver pictured with the one in this set
to illustrate a variation  (my framed one is NOT included!!)
Of all the Hawaii cruise ship menus, these are my favorite
Being sold in their lovely and charming as is condition
