SS Uruguay Moore McCormack Lines Vintage Die Cast Metal Ocean Liner Ashtray
A scale model die-cast of the SS Uruguay made sometime in the late 1930's or 1940's and attached to a heavy red stoneware base tray.
The condition is excellent. Estate found, this tray was stored in a curio, behind glass.
The ceramic form is certainly stoneware and not earthenware ceramic. The overall form is weighty ... the quality is excellent. This was probably an expensive gift shop purchase or was a premium found in a first-class cabin.
The funnel stack showing the "M" is hand painted.
The gold painted decoration is in fine condition.
Perhaps this piece is signed under the felt base by the maker but not worth taking up since this tray is simply stands on its own.
Measures: 9" diameter.
