    Description

    Pre WWII Nieuw Amsterdam Steam Ship Pendant.  The Nieuw Amsterdam laid down 1936, named for New York, which had been the flagship of Holland's fleet.  The British had confiscated it in a neutral port when the Germans invaded Holland in 1940.  The ship was scrapped in 1974.  The pendant is 900 silver and predates WWII.  Item
