    Description

An oval dish from the Peninsular and Occidental Steamship Co.  The diamond with P&O enclosed is known as the Cuba pattern as Havana was a popular travel destination for the company in the pre 1960s.  Dimensions are about 8 x 4-1/2 x 1 inch deep; it was probably used for serving vegetables or side dishes. Condition is better-than-most in that the P&O logo shows very well and the blue pin stripe is fully intact. There is utensil wear to the glaze but no chips or cracks.  It was produced by John Maddock &Sons, England and has impressed marks on the bottom one of which is VII and another is  V.  Possibly date marks?  See my other auctions for the shabby chic creamer in the same pattern.
