Purchased from a private estate this original art called SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Watercolor by Louis Macouillard is one of a series vintage collection of cruise ship dinner menus for the S.S. Mariposa set sail from San Francisco.
Louis Macouillard (1913-1987) was born in San Francisco California, studied California college of arts and art students league of New York. His paintings from the 1930s to the 1950s depict local cityscape scenes of the bay area. He exhibited them with the 13 watercolorist group at a local art gallery and in annual museum shows. During World War II he was stationed in the South Pacific and produce many watercolors, some of which appeared in life magazine. After the war, he continue to paint representational Transparent watercolor paintings of cityscape scenes in landscape subjects in the Sonoma County area.
