Matson Line-S.S. MONTEREY pair of DINNER MENUS from 1937 EXCELLENT CONDITION!!!

$ 52.8

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Condition: Overall EXCELLENT CONDITION given their EXTREME age! I was astounded at their condition when I found these buried in a box. FRONT EDGE-WEAR: one has very little (vertical) which is more like the paper was "rough-cut" and with a slight bit of "fold-wear" to the upper right corner; the other menu has a bit more, again vertical on right edge, as if a ruler had been placed and the paper somehow "worn". It wouldn't come out in photos, but it's only really noticeable up-close...if you have these in a display case, you'd never notice it. The front cover art work on both is in perfect/mint condition, and as you can see it's very colorful...there is NO FADING nor any STAINS on the artwork! There is some what I'd call "shelf-wear" on the back of one, with some scuff marks of something, with some barely noticeable similar marks on the back of the other. The menu with the woman holding up the fruit basket was not folded evenly by the maker so the front cover is wider than the back.

    I
    seriously
    doubt you'll
    ever
    find Matson Line ocean liner menus
    this old AND in such fantastic condition
    !
    These are truly collector's items worthy of addition to any ocean liner memorabilia collection! I'm only selling these because I don't have space in my cabinet for more than the one I'm keeping, and let me tell you, given the beautiful artwork Matson used for these, it was a tough choice deciding which one to keep!
    Both of these dinner menus are from the
    S.S. MONTEREY
    ; the dates are on the inside spread across the fold as you see in the pics...one is from Thursday, May 13,
    1937
    and the other is from Friday, June 11,
    1937
    . Given the artwork, these had to have been from South Pacific voyages, and I suspect the earlier one is from the southbound journey and the later one from the return back to the U.S.
    I offer these for sale as-is;
    no returns
    . I have extensively, fairly & accurately described their condition. Buy with confidence based on my
    outstanding
    100% eBay rating...I don't sell tons of stuff, but when I do, I get top ratings from my buyers!
