Lot of 3 American President Lines metal Tournament Awards
. There are a few missing parts (
see descriptions below
), but otherwise
no substantial flaws other than ordinary
graphite-colored
oxidation (i.e., tarnish -- not rust), which gives these models charming patina (see photos) as befits their
1950s
vintage. No scratches, dents or other flaws are visible. All have intact green felt underneath the bases. Details for each model are as follows:
PRESIDENT WILSON: (8-⅜"L x 2-5/8"W x 2-⅜"H; weight: 1.6lbs) No inserted plaque. Base and ship are what appears to be copper with a matte finish. Oxidation spots are present on top horizontal surfaces and on ship's nameplate. Some surface roughness above "tournament" where waves begin.
PRESIDENT CLEVELAND:
(8-⅜"L x 2-5/8"W x 2"H; weight: 1.5lbs)
No inserted plaque.
Base does not say "Tournament Award."
Base and ship
are a matte bare metal finish
. There is extremely little oxidation on ship or base (see photos). Aftmost mast is loose but intact. Aftmost pair of lifeboats on port and starboard side are missing; there are 4 on each side instead of 5. If you didn't know there were supposed to be 5 on each side, the model would not look odd at all with just 4 pairs.

No inserted plaque
. Base and ship are a matte bare metal finish that has extensive oxidation throughout (see photo). Foremost life boat on port side (the side that's opposite from the "Tournament Award" lettering and missing plaque) is missing but hidden by smokestack when viewed from opposite side. Ship is loose but still connected to base; this can be remedied by removing the felt under the base and tightening the connecting screw.
