Lot of 3 American President Lines metal Tournament Awards
. There are no missing or damaged parts on any of the models (
except missing felt below
Pres. Wilson's
base
)
. There are no substantial flaws on any of the models other than ordinary
graphite-colored
oxidation (i.e., tarnish -- not rust), which gives these models charming patina (see photos) as befits their
1950s
vintage. No scratches, dents or other flaws are visible. Details for each model are as follows:
PRESIDENT WILSON: (8-5/16"L x 2-9/16"W x 2-5/16"H; weight: 1.75lbs) Inserted plaque looks very much like brass; inscribed "BRIDGE". Base and ship are a shiny, slightly reflective finish. Some small blotches (oxidation?) below the word "TOURNAMENT" and below the forward 1/3 of the ship on port and starboard sides (see photo). Felt is missing underneath the metal base.
S.S. PRESIDENT POLK:
(8-⅜"L x 2-5/8"W x 2-1/16"H; weight: 1.75lbs)
Inserted plaque looks very much like copper; inscribed "HORSESHOES". Base and ship
are a matte bare metal finish
. There is a minimum of oxidation on this one (see photos). Some slight bubbling on base at edge above the word "tournament." There is a smudge of what appears to be oxidation across the word "PRESIDENT".
PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT:
(8-¼"L x 2-1/16"W x 2-3/8"H; weight: 1.5lbs)
Inserted plaque looks very much like wood. No inscription on plaque. Base and ship are a matte bare metal finish. Small area of oxidation on port side around midships (see photo). Base does not say "Tournament Award."
