Invitation, Captain’s Cocktail Reception Delta Line Cruise Ship Del Sud.
This is an invitation from Captain A. D. Toomer for a cocktail party reception for the guests of the cruise ship Del Sud. 1957.
The Mississippi Shipping Company of New Orleans introduced three revolutionary passenger-cargo ships to its South American services in the post-war years of the 1940s. In keeping with the company trade name, “Delta Line”, their three new ships were all given “Del” names. Thus the ships were named SS Del Norte, SS Del Sud and SS Del Mar, and they were without a doubt the most distinctive and revolutionary vessels in their time: 1946 - 1967.
The condition is excellent. The paper was always cream, and it has been kept in a smoke free home. The size is approximately 5 1/2” x 8”
