    was originally commissioned in 1927 as Matson Line's
    ss Malolo
    .
    The
    Malolo
    was the first of a number of ships designed by the great William Francis Gibbs for Matson Line.
    It was re-named the
    Atlantic
    in 1948 and sailed under that name for Home Line
    until 1955 when she was re-named
    rhms Queen Frederica.
