Grace Line SANTA MAGDALENA "Amazon Suite" Wood Sign Salvaged from Ship

Grace Line - A mahogany plaque that once graced the door to the Amazon Suite aboard the SANTA MAGDALENA.
Written on back of the 3" by 11" plaque is the ship name and cabin number, 11. That stateroom was up on Sun Deck and, at 12.5' by 25', was the largest onboard. While not technically a suite, it did have an adjoining door to stateroom 15 that could be opened if added space was required.
Introduced by Grace Line with great fanfare in 1963-64, the four combo liners of the SANTA MAGDALENA Class sailed just seven years for Grace Line before being shuffled off to Prudential. Later in the 1970s Prudential dumped them on Delta Line. When Delta gave up on them in the mid-1980s, they were the final American-flagged ocean liners.
