ORIGINAL AND IN THE CONDITION AS SEEN IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS.Beautiful, Gala Night, Festive Cap Tally Very Nice Hat Ribbon for Italian Line's tn Cristoforo Colombo (1954-1977) Original & Official Company issued item from circa 1954 , measures approx. 39" long x 1" wide (99 cm x 25 mm)Made of cloth, Green with ship's name embroidered with gold-tone thread.Italia Line's House Flag embroidered before and after name in gold, white and red. Used - with only trivial blemishes. Excellent condition. FYI: The 29,191 grt, tn Cristoforo Colombo was launched May 10, 1952 by Soc. Anon Ansaldo, Sestri Ponente, Genoa , Italy for Italia, Societa Di Navigazione (Italian Line). She was a sister ship to the ill-fated Andrea Doria (January 1953 - July 1956), who collided with the Swedish liner Stockholm on the evening of Wednesday, July 25, 1956. The Colombo was a 700-foot luxury liner had accommodations for 301 first class, 242 cabin class and 703 tourist passengers. She started her maiden voyage on July 15, 1954 from Genoa to Naples - Cannes - Gibraltar and New York . In January 1963 the vessel underwent a major refit; her tonnage was re-listed at 29, 429 and her accommodations restyled as 208 first class, 304 cabin and 558 tourist class. In August 1966 the C. Colombo’s black hull was repainted white, matching the rest of the Italian Line fleet. From 1965 to mid 70s she serviced both North and South American
routes. In 1977 she was sold to Venezuela where she became a workers' accommodation ship at Puerto Ordaz. In 1981 she was towed to Kaohsiung , Taiwan and to Hong Kong to shop her around but no one stepped up, the ship was scrapped in fall of 1982.
