    Description

    20 pages not including covers
One of the great Art Deco era steamship brochures, announcing the advent of Canadian Pacific's long-lived EMPRESS OF JAPAN. Renamed EMPRESS OF SCOTLAND in 1942, she trooped during the Second World War, was restored to passenger service after re-conditioning, this time for the North Atlantic, before being sold to the Hamburg Atlantic Line which radically re-conditioned her. She emerged in 1958 as the two-funneled HANSEATIC with a greatly expanded tourist class section. She sailed in this guise until a devastating fire in New York harbor in 1966 ended a near-four decade career which had seen tremendous success in war and peace on the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
