Description
Baltimore Steam Packet Platter, Old Bay Line, early pattern that is infrequently seen.Old Bay Line was the longest running steamboat company in the US, operating on the Chesapeake from 1840 to 1962. The platter offered in this auction is believed to be from the early 1900s. It has no cracks or chips and only moderate utensil marks on the face. As per the photos, the house flag, script BSPCo and pin stripes are in very good condition. The outer rim of the platter has age spotting as a result of wear to the glaze and iron content of the pottery. No manufacturing information on the back of the platter; this piece is 10 inch by 8 inch.
