    Description

    Bowl from the the Baltimore Steam Packet Co, commonly known as the Old Bay Line. The bowl is 7 inch diameter and is shallow depth, probably used for soup, salad or dessert.  It is bottom marked "Ivory Lamberton, Scammell China" and is in very good condition = no chips or cracks and light utensil marks in the well of the bowl.  As you can see in photo #1, there is a light discoloration near the outer rim of the bowl; my guess is that this occurred during the firing of this piece. Also, there are "nibbles" to the foot of the bowl which appear to be due to the original molding rather than hard use.
