This 1981 children's book is from Disney's Wonderful World of Reading series. Many of the titles were special adaptations or side stories of a classic Disney story or character. In this case, this looks to be a take on the old Fairy Tale "The Tortoise and the Hare". Brer Rabbit is an Oral Tradition passed down by African-American descendants of the old Southern United States. It is the tale of a trickster. Disney adapted the character into a 1946 Animated Motion Picture, "Song of the South."
